Many other sources exist about project management for educational technology and technical communication projects.

Rather than overwhelm readers with extensive lists, I’ll provide some basics:

General Resources Project Management Institute, which has prepared a formal Body of Knowledge regarding project management and offers formal certification in it (the Project Management Professional (PMP). This credential is widely recognized in industry.)
New project management methodologies Most new methodologies incorporate a bit less up-front planning and more cycles of try-test-and-refine the project.

  • For instructional design, check out SAM, which is described in Michael Allen’s 2012 book
  • For technical communication, check out Agile and waterfall approaches, which adapt approaches increasingly used in software development

  • Bill Shackleford’s book, Project Managing e-Learning.
Technical Communication Projects
  • JoAnn Hackos’ two books on project and documentation management.
  • Richard Hamilton’s book on management for technical communication groups.
  • Articles in Intercom, which regularly address issues of project management.
